The Lumix series of cameras launched by Panasonic is high on demand in the market.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60 launched in early 2014 has a huge buzz in the market for its high-performance features. The success of this Panasonic camera has been causing threat to the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-HX50V which came into the market in April 2013. Here’s how the two cameras perform when they lock horns.
Sensor
The Panasonic TZ60 features an 18.9 MP, CMOS sensor. It has a light sensitivity of 6,400 ISO in standard as well as boosted mode. The sensor performs well when used in a normal environment, but struggles in low light conditions. On the contrary, the Sony Cybershot has a 20.4 MP, CMOS sensor. This means that the maximum resolution of HX50V is 8% higher than its competitor. This device comes loaded with a standard light sensitivity of 3,200 ISO, which can be further boosted up to 12,800 ISO. Hence, the Sony device provides better photography configuration in low light areas.

Lens
The preloaded lens of both the cameras renders 30x zoom and 24 mm wide angle to its users. Apart from this, the lens of either of the cameras cannot be interchanged; which is a major turn off for prospective buyers. However, the lens of the Panasonic device can capture videos at a maximum of 1080p @50fps. In contrast, the Cybershot camera supports 1080p @60fps video recording. Hence, the two cameras offer similar specs in terms of lens.

Display
The two devices come with Live View functionality, thanks to the presence of 3-inch LCD screen. As the screen size of both the devices is similar, the screen resolution hits the scales at 920k dots and 921k dots in Lumix and Cybershot respectively. Hence, the users get a proper platform for visualizing the images while capturing them. However, neither of the cameras offers the touchscreen functionality.
When it comes to the build, the two devices are sleek and smart. To be precise, the Lumix device measures 110 x 64 x 34 mm, whereas the Cybershot HX50V has the dimensions of 108 x 64 x 38 mm. In addition to this, the Panasonic device weighs 214g, in comparison to HX50V’s 272 g.
Winner: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ60
The two cameras provide head-to-head competition to each other. A majority of features and specifications of the two devices are more-or-less similar. Hence, the choice depends upon the brand preference of a user.
