I know that King 810 is supposed to be a band full of tough guys who hail from a murder capitol where people murder for capital, but this…this is just fucking stupid and does not send the right kind of message, I don’t think.
Roadrunner Records’ latest signees were in Columbus, Ohio, this weekend to perform at Rock On The Range.
As they performed their own unique brand of gangsta metal, they were joined on stage by these dudes in black clothing and white masks, clutching what appeared to be machine guns.
They could have been toys, but really, that’s not the point.
OK, so, King 810 grew up in a ‘hood where people are gunned down daily. I just don’t understand why they are trying to perpetuate that blight as they try to escape where they came from?
Verdict on King 810? Stupid kids angry but confused as to why will latch on to this band and they will become huge, and in ten years time, people will regard them in much the same way people regard Limp Bizkit now.
Of course, King 810 were not the first band to pull this move. Public Enemy, who hail from the same Long Island soils I did, used to have dudes standing around like Black Panthers will guns.
This was long before kids starting taking weapons to school and killing their tormenters.
If you’re toughness is authentic, you don’t need the gats, you feel me?
The use of guns just comes across as a bunch of ignorant dudes trying too hard to be tough.
I am not fooled.
There’s no place for hip-hop theatrics in heavy metal.
